There seems to be some confusion on what the bible teaches about where we stand now regarding Israel of the flesh and the church. Please note, I am listing those as two separate entities for now to build my point.
A straw man argument is an argument that is built and based on something that is never even there. For instance, I have been accused a time or two of "replacement theology" which means basically that I believe the church has replaced Israel. This is false because I have never once held that view in my life. I can also say that I really don't know of anyone who holds that view. Especially if one is reading and studying the bible properly.
The truth about Israel and the church today is that they are in short, the exact same thing. Israel IS included in the church. The church, or better yet- the true Israel of God (Gal. 6:16), is made up of ALL races.
Due largely to pulpit inflence, many believe that God stopped dealing with the Jews on a salvation level for a while and will eventually come back to them in the future. This is a huge error and it is just not true at all. The very first members of the church that were saved at Pentacost were who? They were Jews. We see this in Acts 2 when Peter warns them to be saved from that generation and the judgement that was coming upon it....
"And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls." Acts 2:40-41
The church actually started with Jews. Jews were saved all throughout the New Testament writings and they continue to be saved today. Sometimes we forget that even in the Old Testament days, not all Jews were God's people. Most people know this but they fail to see how important it is. There was ALWAYS a remnant of the faith within all of Israel. The Jewish race was simply the chosen race of people that God would reveal Himself in and through. He would bring His plan of redemption to the world through the Jews.
The New Testament writers go to extensive lengths to make sure we know that the separation wall has been torn down and now all races are equal in Christ. I could quote scriptures showing this for days, but here are just 2...
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" Galatians 3:28
"For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God." Romans 2:28-29
