In Genesis 4 Cain was driven out of God's presence for killing his brother Abel.
Cain goes and dwells in a place called "Nod" on the east of Eden according to the bible.
There, Cain found himself a wife, he "knew" (or slept) with her, and she conceived and had a baby named Enoch.
Since at this time the ONLY two offspring we see from Adam and Eve were Cain and Abel, WHO is living in this land called "Nod" where Cain found himself a wife?
The best answer people can come up with is that this wife he found in Nod is just Cain's own sister!
If this is true, here is what it means...
Let's say Adam was 40 when Eve gave birth to Cain. Let's say Cain killed Abel when Cain was 30. This would mean Adam was around 70 years old when Cain killed Abel and was sent away.
We know that Cain and Abel were the firstborn of Adam and Eve.
If this was Cain's sister that he found in Nod and married, Eve would have had to give birth to this woman. This woman would have had to grow up fully and move away from Adam and Eve. She would have had to build, develop, or inhabit her own LAND CALLED NOD. Then, Cain, her own brother, would show up, marry his own sister, and have children.
Makes no sense!
If this wife was born of Eve at the same time Cain was born of Eve, this woman would be the same age as Cain when he found her. This flat out just does not work.
We know from scripture that the very next time Eve gives birth it is to Seth. We are told that Seth replaced Abel whom Cain had killed. We see this birth of Seth occur AFTER Cain found his wife and had a son. Genesis 4:25-26
The Land of Nod was an already existing and already somewhat populated area when Cain was banished from God's presence. Perhaps Cain was even fearful of some of the men there if they found him, they might kill him. We see this when God sets the mark on him for protection.
Enoch was born from Cain's wife and we then see Cain build a city and name it after his son Enoch. We then see children born to Enoch without any mention of other children being born to Cain. So this means, that Enoch must have had other women to choose from in the area. Otherwise this whole scenario makes no sense!
