Perhaps one of the strongest proofs for Genesis not being the creation of the literal planet is Genesis 2:4. It reads...
"These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens"
I have already shown extensively how the term "heaven & earth" very often refers to God's Covenant people all over scripture. Doesn't take a theology degree to see this.
But the word for "generations" in Genesis 2:4 is "TOWLEDAH"
This word means: DESCENDANTS, OFFSPRING, GENEALOGICAL LIST
This word is used 38 times in scripture and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. it is used, it is used to speak of HUMAN BEINGS.
The word "TOWLEDAH" is NEVER EVEN ONCE used to speak of anything other than humans and their genealogical line. Couple quick examples...
"These are the generations H8435 of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:" Genesis 11:10
"And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families of Levi according to their generations. H8435" Exodus 6:19
"These also are the generations H8435 of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai." Numbers 3:1
In another study I showed how Genesis 2:1 speaks of "all the host" of the heaven and earth. Which flows wonderfully with this passage in Genesis 2:4.
Again, the entire theme and flow here is not on rocks, dirt and grass but rather it is on the creation of God's Covenant people.
Which is why immediately after Genesis 2:4 we see Adam, then Eve, then Abel, then Seth, then Noah, and so on.
These were the generations of Gods people.
Thanks for reading guys. If you've enjoyed the study please give it a like and feel free to share.
