This passage is a real doozy for those who believe all humanity died in Adam. I mean, you see what it says. It's difficult to explain away.
Yet if we understood the Bible correctly, this wouldn't be a problem.
If we understood that "In Adam" refers to Gods first Covenant people- who would later be called Israel in the flesh.
Gentiles were "without hope, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and alienated from the promises of God" said Paul.
So we see "Adam" as God's first people in the flesh.
And we see "Christ" as the true Israel of God, the true Jew who is one inwardly, the NEW Jerusalem. A spiritual people.
Adam- Old Israel flesh
Christ- New Israel Spirit
Adam- Old Covenant special people
Christ- New Covenant special people
